Coast Electronics was founded in 1978 by Dick Weiss and his son John to provide consumer electronics products and services to the customers of Morro Bay. Dick earned a Master’s Degree in business and management and John earned a degree in Electronics Technology and has held technical positions in electronics and communications.

After a series of ownership changes, John became sole owner of the company in 1998. During these transitions, key employees have remained committed to providing the best service possible on the Central Coast.In 2000, Coast Electronics expanded to the Los Osos market with a second store located at 1014 Los Osos Valley Road.
